ISO Certification

Our ISO Certification

Our ISO 9001 certification is based on our rigorous quality management system, which ensures that we always deliver high-quality translations.

And our ISO 17100 certification guarantees that our translations meet the industry’s highest standards for quality and accuracy.

ISO headquarters in Geneva Switzerland

Many translations & localization providers offer some form of Quality Management System, but not all QMS are compliant with ISO standards.

The benefits of working with a translation service provider that has achieved the ISO standard include:

  • 1. reduction in errors
  •
  • 2. improved customer satisfaction through transparency
  •
  • 3. increased efficiency by streamlining processes
  •
  • 4. identifying potential for quality improvements

And at LingPerfect, we have not one but two certificates issued by independent certifying bodies that our processes comply with ISO standards:

  • – ISO 9015:2015
  • – ISO 17100:2015

What is ISO?

ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization. ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization with a network of 162 national standards bodies, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates the system.

The information and guidelines published by ISO cover everything from product quality and safety to manufacturing processes. As an impartial forum for collaboration between experts from different countries and backgrounds, ISO allows businesses worldwide to comply with the same standards.

It acts as a forum for developing and introducing standards in many areas, including public health and safety, quality management systems, environment, and industrial relations.

To obtain certification, the organization must prove that it is continually monitoring its quality procedures and striving for continuous quality improvement.

ISO: the accreditation bodies

An important thing to note is that ISO creates standards but does not issue certifications.

The latter is done by an independent accredited certification body, like Bureau Veritas, for example.

The certification body operates independently of ISO.

ISO has put in place ISO 17020, a new standard to govern the certification bodies themselves.

ISO 17020 is a guarantee of the independence and rigor of ISO’s accreditation process.

ISO-compliant quality standards for translation and localization providers

As an ISO-certified company, our organization is independently audited and assessed against the ISO standards by an independent accreditation body.

Delegates set out these standards from all participating countries, and their purpose is to ensure that products and services consistently meet the requirements of each country’s national markets.

ISO-compliant quality management systems: the benefits

Working with a certified company to the ISO 9001 standard provides many benefits. First and foremost, this certification demonstrates that your translation provider has procedures in place to ensure translations are of high quality.

Additionally, this certification requires documentation throughout all project phases, from pre-translation planning to post-delivery changes or notifications. You can access project records at any time, which is helpful when checking the status of your translation project or looking for clarification on a job in progress.

Companies with ISO-compliant processes are committed to constantly improving their services by providing training opportunities for employees and investing in new technologies. This continuous improvement helps reduce costs for you and your provider while increasing productivity.

What is ISO 9001:2015 certification?

ISO 9001 2015 certification for LingPerfect Translations valid until year 2025

The ISO 9001 ensures that a company has a systematic approach to managing its production and service delivery process, emphasizing involving all employees in a process-focused effort towards continuous improvement and quality management principles.

It also requires regular reviews from a qualified person who will assess the organizational performance against criteria for excellence.

ISO 9001:2015 specifies requirements for a quality management system when an organization:

  • – needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and
  •
  • – aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the practical application of the system, including processes for improving the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

All ISO 9001:2015 requirements apply to any organization, regardless of its type or size or the products and services it provides.

ISO standard 9001:2015 - the certification procedure

The certification process involves:

  • – Assessing the mandates of ISO 9001:2015.
  •
  • – Analyzing how LingPerfect’s system fits with these mandates.
  •
  • – Verifying that our documentation and procedures meet the required standards.
  •

The process is performed by a representative of the certifying body, Bureau Veritas Certification, who has undergone extensive ISO 9001:2015 certification process training.

The first step is a self-assessment, in which we identify and describe the processes we have in place to ensure high-quality output.

Afterward, we submit evidence to the LingPerfect management to verify that our quality systems meet the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 international standards.

Once the evidence has been gathered and analyzed, we will submit a detailed report to Bureau Veritas. Only the final inspection will decide whether LingPerfect has met the requirements for certification. And so far, we always have.

How does ISO 9001 apply to translation and localization services?

There are several quality management systems applicable to the translation and localization industry. The quality management system required by ISO 9001 is one of them.

In fact, it is potentially the most comprehensive of all quality management systems as it covers numerous factors of an organization, from its inception to day-to-day operations and how it delivers products/services.

In a nutshell, an ISO 9001 quality management system focuses on quality as a “key differentiator” for increasing customer satisfaction and achieving better business results. In addition, the quality management system ensures that the entire organization is focused on quality from top to bottom.

Under ISO quality standards, quality policies are determined by senior management, which sets out the commitment to quality and quality objectives. The quality policy becomes a part of the quality management system documentation.

ISO 9001 requires that quality systems and policies address every aspect of the organization, including its customers, processes, products/services, and performance evaluation systems. In addition to making quality a priority, organizations must establish a customer focus and demonstrate their commitment to continuous improvement of quality practices.

ISO certification is ISO’s way to ensure quality, consistency, and continuous improvement. ISO standards include quality management systems ( ISO 9000), general environmental responsibility (ISO 14000), and many more.

What does the ISO certification process look like?

The ISO certification process requires a lot of work, documentation, and process description. The ISO auditor evaluates the readiness of the company to attain ISO certification and gives recommendations on how to improve practices to meet ISO standards better.

The ISO auditor will make an internal visit and verify the processes and procedures with help from top management and senior personnel. After all, is checked and approved by the ISO auditor, ISO certification will be given to the company.

ISO certification is given by external accredited registrars under ISO international rules. There are thousands of ISO certifying bodies worldwide with different accreditation criteria. These organizations make sure other organizations meet specific standards and demonstrate their conformity through audits and inspections.

Who needs ISO certification?

ISO standards can apply to any organization regardless of its size or field of activity. ISO standards are used by industry, organizations, and governments worldwide.

But ISO certification is not mandatory to conduct business. Both large organizations and small entities that decide to obtain ISO certification want to enhance their credibility and show customers their commitment to quality.

What does ISO stand for?

ISO stands for ISO International Organization. ISO was formed in 1947. It is an independent, non-governmental organization that creates standards for worldwide use.

ISO standards are recognized and used around the world. ISO’s mission is to promote the development of standardization and related activities to facilitate the international exchange of goods and services and develop cooperation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific, technological, and economic activity.

How many types of ISO are there?

ISO has established some 20,000+ ISO standards covering everything from medical equipment to energy generation and storage to livestock breeding. In addition, there are also over 100,000 national standards based on ISO technical specifications.

A large proportion of ISO International Standards are technical. ISO standards cover all major economic sectors and almost every industry, including the process industries (chemical, pharmaceutical, refining), buildings and construction, transport equipment, power generation, and distribution.
